Channeling can be detected when the stream of coffee is coming at an uneven angle, while blonding is an unfortunate side effect of under-extraction, creating a weak espresso. The Rocket 58mm naked portafilter does an incredible job of this and helps a great deal in maintaining the quality of the espresso.
